Purposely Designed for Lifting Walkway Grating or Grid Mesh

The Grid Hook Gold is a high-performance lifting device, engineered for safe handling of walkway grating or grid mesh. Made from SAE 4130 steel with a yellow chromate coating, it meets Australian, American, and European standards. Featuring a 45kN minimum static strength and a 550kg WLL, it provides a safety ratio of 10.9:1. Its double-locking safety latch and 48-hour salt spray rating guarantee durability in demanding industrial environments.

Key Features:

  • Standards: AS 4991-2004, ASME B30.26-2015, EN 13155:2003+A2:2009.
  • Destruction tested at 59.4kN (6 tons).
  • Proof load tested to 3,600 lbs (16kN/1,600 kg), exceeding SWL by 2.5 times.
  • 550 kg Safe Working Load (SWL).
  • 45kN textile strength.
  • 8:1 safety factor.

How The Grid Hook Gold Walkway Grating Lifting Device Is Operated

In this video you will see the safest way to use our Grid Hook Gold Walkway Grating Lifting device.

* The Grid Hook Gold lifter is a below the hook attachment.

* The Grid Hook Gold is a double action snap hook which has been redesigned for the propose of lifting Walkway Grating. 
 
* Like any device that is connected to a set of chains or soft slings with a shackle it is always good practice to mouse the shackle pin. (mousing the shackle pin is a process of tying the pin to the shackle so that the pin does not unwind itself during the lift. Which can happen in windy conditions.)   

* Alternatively you could use a bolt and nut type shackle because they have a hole in the bolt for a safety pin to go through, stopping the nut from undoing.
  
*  Having a double action gate improves the safety of using a lifting device on the walkway grating because it eliminates the opportunity of the grating falling out of the hook.

* To open the Grid Hook gate, you will be required to press the back of the device with your thumb to push the secondary gate flat. This gate locks the main gate closed.

* Once this has been done, then the main gate can be pressed opened with your fingers.

* Note that the device is upside down with the opening facing downwards. This is because on the smaller grating you can roll the hook down and out wards to make it easier for yourself. This may take some practice however once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature and takes no more than 3 seconds.

* When placing the hook onto the grating, be sure that the hook is encapsulated around the flat bar of the grating and not the liquorice bar.

* The liquorice bar is a weak point on the grating. It is a good practise not to lift from this point when lifting high into a building.

* As any competent dogman/rigger knows, if you side load any rigging equipment then you are required to de-rate such equipment by 50%.

By using two Grid Hooks on each sheet of grating up to 2 meters you improve the lifting capacity and reduce side loading of the lifting device. Many companies actually have this written into their work method statements for the safe use of these lifters.

* For sheets of grating over 2 meters it is recommended to use three or four lifters to keep the grating flat and totally eliminate any side loading of the lifting device.
